ABOUT US
Soli Deo Gloria (SDG) is the multidisciplinary, all-ages, creative arts ministry of Park Street Church. The group’s name means “glory to God alone.” These words were written by Bach on many of his compositions in lieu of his signature.
SDG is composed of ILLUME—a Monthly Night of Music & Worship Through the Arts—creative small groups, a dance ministry, a drama ministry, and periodic lectures on Christianity and culture. Participants include arts appreciators, dramatists, dancers, writers, musicians, designers, photographers, painters, new media artists, crafty folks, among others.
SDG’s mission statement is to worship, pursue and serve the Creator through creative process and product, encouraging wonder and awe towards God for His glory.
We endeavor to:
1. Bring Christian “creatives” together in fellowship and communication;
2. Worship and glorify the Creator with our creative process and output;
3. Inspire Christians to use and explore their creative gifts;
4. Apply standards of excellence in the artistic product which serves the church body;
5. Encourage artistic accountability and sharing.
Relationships, with Christ at the center, have been key to this ministry, as members have found support and encouragement to worship God with their gifts.

ILLUME: A Night of Music & Worship Through the Arts
Arts appreciators of all ages are invited to this quarterly event as we worship God “on the right side of the brain” via a time of praise and worship music, followed by visual arts, poetry, dance, music and/or other art forms based around a theme.
SDG Dance Ministry
The SDG Dance Ministry is a group of experienced dancers (ballet emphasis) and choreographers at Park Street. Dancers perform at special Christmas and Easter services and other events. Contact sdgdance[at]parkstreet.org
Lux Drama Ministry
Lux has performed at special Sunday Night services and at events across the ministries of the church, including a one act play, Genesis, in the Sanctuary. Contact luxdrama[at]parkstreet.org to audition, submit drama scripts or get involved.
Creative Writing Group
Join this group for writers interested in getting published. Members “workshop” their work bi-weekly on the first and third Sunday of each month. Newcomers are welcome! Contact sdgwriting[at]parkstreet.org to get involved.
Photography Group

Sunday Night Christmas and Easter Arts Services
Members of SDG enjoy contributing special arts to the annual Sunday Night Christmas and Easter Specials. In the past, we have shared drama, dance, visual art, environmental and fabric arts, video and other creative elements as acts of worship. Contact us to get involved.
Opportunities to Serve
Interested in using your artistic gifts to serve the body of Christ? Our ILLUME team is always looking for new folks to share at open mics, design the worship space, create and run slideshows, help with hospitality, or lead SDG affinity groups for new artistic disciplines. Contact us.
