When Park Street Church sends out our Staff Missionaries we make a commitment to fully support them spiritually and financially as their home church. However one of the requirements is that each missionary raise one time outgoing expenses as an opportunity for each of us to contribute personally to their ministry and affirm their going out. Damian and Grace hope to start language training in January and hope to depart for Kazakhstan in April 2010. Damian and Grace currently work with Athletes in Action. Grace, originaly from Taiwan, studied at UMass and Damian grew up in Spokane WA, came out to Boston to study at Harvard. They also both studied at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Their son Moses was born this last May.
[our missionaries]
Since 1819, Park Street Church has been sending missionaries all over the world. By the 1950's we were supporting over 100 missionaries in every region of the world. In recent years, our church has shifted paradigms in our understanding of what it means to support and send out missionaries. In 1997, a policy decision was made to establish deepen relationships with our missionaries and each of our missionaries were invited become like part of our ministerial staff, while working with their agencies. The church made a commitment to our missionaries to spiritually fully support them and financially ensure their needs were met. In 2007 Park Street Church also began sending out Global Professional Missionaries who sustained themselves with their own employment but who were called to be missionaries.
