MISSIONS AT PARK STREET CHURCH
Attempt something so great for God that it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it.
—Evangelist John Haggai
From her very inception, Park Street Church has had the privilege of taking part in America’s historical missions movement. The church was instrumental in the founding of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (America’s first faith missions) and in helping to send out America’s first overseas missionaries to India and Burma. By 1819, Park Street commissioned missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands and to the then-Palestinian territories, commencing many years of pioneering missions to unreached peoples. Since those initial departures, hundreds of men, women and children have set sail from this church—both literally and metaphorically—to serve as Christian missionaries all over the world. Our work continues today with our commitment to the great commission, for we believe that as the Father sent Jesus, so has Jesus sent his church to the nations in order to bear witness to the good news of salvation. We want to live out this mission! We are committed to making Christ known to every nation and all peoples—beginning right here in Boston!
We invite you to get involved in our missions program. Take time to volunteer with our CityWorks urban service ministry or with the Woman’s Benevolent Society, America’s oldest women’s auxiliary organization.
If you are a student, our campus partnerships are an integral part of our outreach. Campus Crusade for Christ’s Real Life Boston College Ministry is for college students. For Graduate students and faculty members, we partner with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Alongside the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, we reach out to medical campuses and the Longwood Medical Community. Our FOCUS Ministry serves international students and scholars.
