[GALATIANS SERMON SERIES]
Freedom. Such a simple word. Such a central desire. Such an elusive pursuit. Crisis is thrashing the churches in Galatia and threatening their newly discovered freedom in Christ. Paul’s response is, at turns, combative and compassionate. With closely reasoned theology and fiercely argued persuasion, his letter reveals an expansive gospel that encompasses the whole history of God’s redemptive plans. Challenges to a true and lasting freedom confront us today, and we do well to heed anew the rallying cry, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery!” (5:1) Let us explore together the glorious fruit of a life rooted in the gospel.
