January Senior Minister Search Committee Report

Written by the Board of Elders Prayer Team: Jim Feenstra, Nora Laver, Heather Lewis and David Rix.

Members of the Senior Minister Search Committee are: Herman Smith (chair), Diana Bennett, Simon Chang, Rebecca Heidgerd, John Liu, Tom Miller, David Murgatroyd, Martha Neu, Alex Pless, Dan Vogelzang, and Brian Winey.

The entire congregation is encouraged to hold the Senior Minister Search Committee in daily prayer.

  • For fruitful sessions with the church leadership to continue developing the church profile.
  • For God’s amazing love and encouragement for our ministers and church staff during this time of transition.
  • For God’s clear call to the person who will serve as our next senior pastor, his family and for a seamless transition from his current position.
  • For God’s guidance to the congregation to wait patiently and with open minds during the search committee’s work knowing confidently that God is in control.
  • For God’s perfect timing for each step needed in the selection or our next senior minister.

Verses for the month

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7–8

Do you have a current Sr. Minister job description that the committee is using for the search?
May I see it please?

Yes, there is a public job description - it is under "Candidate Profile" on the search site: https://search.parkstreet.org/

The search committee also spent some time discussing how they have altered and changed their requirements as the process has progressed: You can hear from their Chair here: https://youtu.be/lFZJwv843us?t=4097

Thanks for the excellent question!
