September Senior Minister Search Committee Report

Written by the BoE Prayer Team: Nora Laver, Joel Stanton, Mark Snell and David Rix.

Senior Minister Search Committee members are: Herman Smith (chair), Diana Bennett, Simon Chang, Rebecca Heidgerd, John Liu, Tom Miller, David Murgatroyd, Martha Neu, Alex Pless, Dan Vogelzang, and Brian Winey.

We encourage the entire congregation to hold this committee in daily prayer as they diligently work to select a candidate to be our next senior pastor and for our church as a whole.

  • For our interim pastor Phil Thorne and his wife Cindi
  • For our ministerial staff, their commitment and devotion to our church during this time of transition
  • For the numerous referrals and recommendations the SMSC has received for potential senior minister candidates
  • For being able to pray together as a church in the recent all church prayer event

Pray for:

  • A strong spirit of unity and mutual encouragement
  • Our ministerial staff as they discuss our church calendar and events for this fall
  • Wisdom for the SMSC as they evaluate candidates, including their sermons
  • God to open the heart of our next senior minister and family to carefully consider Park Street Church as their next calling
  • God to grant health and safety for the SMSC members

Scripture for the month

Psalm 31:24

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

Romans 8:28 (The Message)

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
