H.O.M.E. (formerly TNO) Annual Christmas Backpack Event

The Christmas Backpack event is going on now for H.O.M.E (Homeless Outreach Ministry and Engagement)’s annual Christmas dinner to our neighbors. This year our “backpack event” has turned into a fundraiser. The cost to fill one backpack is $14 and we expect to fill 120 backpacks for our neighbors this year. The backpacks will be filled with warm scarves, hats and gloves, festive socks and needed hygiene items like toothpaste /brush and first aid kits and other items! We will also provide $5 gift cards to Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds which provides a warm beverage or meal for our houseless neighbors.

Donate at www.parkstreet.org/giveonline by selecting “H.O.M.E. Fund (tno)” in the dropdown.

The Family Ministry is hosting a toy and coat drive for The Root Cellar again this year. The Root Cellar ministers to refugee families in Lewiston, ME. This year’s will look a little different as do all things this year. It will be a general toy and coat drive. You can bring a new toy or coat for a boy, girl, child, or teen to the church during business hours throughout the week. We will have a box in the Ockenga Lobby for them to go in. If you would like to mail it to the church, address it the following way:

SUN DEC 6 | New England Prayer Gathering for Global Missions

SUN DEC 6, 7:30–8:30 PM. God has placed us here on this earth for such a time as this. We live in a world that is full of turmoil, division, and disease. Through prayer, we get to gather and pray that God’s Kingdom would come on earth as it is in heaven. We will pray for God to bring peace, unity, hope, and salvation in situations and places that are currently not experiencing those things. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

We invite you to join us in praying for God to move powerfully in our region, our churches, our nation, and in the nations of the world. If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email at [email protected].

Prayer & Praise

Pray for the Congregation

  • “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psa 121:1-2);
  • Believe and receive God’s peace (Rom 5:1);
  • Walk with one another in the Light of Christ (Lk 1:79);
  • Follow the truth as God commands (2 Jn 1:4).

Pray for the People

  • For our Global Missionaries, each in their own context: to be a loving Gospel witness to the unreached minority group that they are serving;
  • For our Elders: to each wait upon the Lord from a posture of surrender and worship;
  • For our Nominating Committee: praise for progress in identifying a slate of potential leaders for the church; prayer for preparing the corresponding candidates;
  • For our Staff: spiritual inspiration and refreshment to unite the congregation in Christ’s Advent hope, peace, joy, and love;
  • Comfort for the brokenhearted, and solace for those who are mourning;
  • Grace and stamina for volunteers serving and caring for the vulnerable in our communities;
  • Strength, resilience, and divine help for healthcare workers battling COVID;
  • Care and support for those feeling isolated, anxious or helpless;
  • Changed hearts in a struggling marriage, and renewed commitment to reconcile by God’s strength;
  • Hope and help for those unemployed and struggling with poor health, hunger, food insecurity, or housing uncertainties.

Pray for Grace

  • To persevere in your efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19;
  • To serve the church and your community with your God given gifts;
  • To bear fruit through the ministry of reconciliation to which Christ calls you.
