Senior Minister Search Process

Keeping the congregation informed on the process of finding a new senior minister.

Who is on the Senior Minister Search Committee?

The Senior Minister Search Committee (SMSC) was elected in October 2016 at a meeting of the Park Street Church Leadership Council. The Leadership Council is made up of the Deacons, Elders, Officers, and Ministers of the church. (Details about the process can be found in the bylaws.)

What has happened in the search process so far?

Since their initial meeting, the members of the senior mininister search committee have been meeting nearly weekly. Their first task was to get a good feel of who the congregation is today. Through thoughtful interviews of many different focus groups across the church body, the SMSC found an overwhelming desire for sound preaching, interpersonal connection, and a heart for prayer. Equipped with these values, the SMSC was able to create a comprehensive church profile and a job description that fit both the personality and needs of Park Street Church.

Currently the SMSC is in the process of gathering referrals for the position. If you have a name you would like to recommend, please let them know!

Stay updated

The SMSC provides regular in-service updates on the search process, usually on the first Sunday of the month. In conjunction with those updates are monthly prayer requests, which can be found on this website's blog. Additionally, while the members of the Search Committee cannot share names of potential candidates, they are eager to elucidate the strategic thinking regarding the creation of the search process as well as the values which undergird the decisions they make. If you have any comments or questions, they would love to hear from you.
