A Commitment to the Great Commission
Park Street Church supported and sent out America’s first missionaries in 1812 to proclaim God's love. Two hundred years later, we remain committed to sending missionaries all over the world to plant churches, to equip local churches, to translate the Bible into heart languages and to meet the physical and emotional needs in under-served areas. We also commission Global Professional Missionaries, who sustain themselves with their own employment while ministering throughout the world. Each year, Park Street Church sets aside a week to bring special focus to Missions. For details about this year's Mission Emphasis Week, click here.
To get a fuller sense of our commitment, download a message by Senior Minister Gordon Hugenberger here.
Fully Supporting Missionaries
Our missionaries are integral members of our church staff and we are committed to fully supporting them - spiritually, emotionally, and financially. Our full-support missionaries become part of our ministerial staff, while continuing work with their agencies.
Focusing on Unreached People Groups
Our priority is to send Park Street Church missionaries to unreached people groups, where there is no church.
Working with Partners and Teams
Our commitment is to work in partnership with agencies and organizations engaged in cross-cultural ministries of proclamation, teaching, and healing, in order to demonstrate the value of the whole kingdom of God. When possible, we send our missionaries out in teams.
Opportunites for the Whole Church to be Involved with Missions
- Pray - Join our prayer efforts for our partnerships, and missionaries around the world. Join a prayer team to support a particular missionary.
- Serve - Volunteer for short-term mission projects with one of our partnerships or take part in local outreach to our neighbors who live outside on Boston Common.
- Go - We believe God calls us to send missionaries for the discipling of every people group. There are opportunities to engage in short term projects, or to commit for a one to two year period, and also to explore long-term or global professionals.
- Give - Opportunities abound to give resources to the work of missions and missionaries.
