2025 Short-Term Missions Opportunities

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

MARK 16:15

This year Park Streeters will spread out to points all over the globe as part of our short-term missions (STM) outreach. We are committed to short-term missions for many reasons. For one, it keeps us connected with the world and supports the ongoing work of our missionaries and partners on the field. It also gives our congregation opportunities to serve shoulder-to-shoulder, deepening our community and our commitment to the mission of God here and to the ends of the earth. If you have any questions before proceeding with your application, please contact the Missions Office at [email protected].

CENTRAL ASIA | Ministry to Young Professionals | July 19-27

ESTIMATED COST: $2800

Tom and Michelle B. have been reaching out to young adults in this large Central Asian city since 2003. Through an international Toastmasters Club, they are able to meet young professionals and be a witness to the love of Christ. They would love for you to join them in providing practical skills such as English conversation and public speaking practice to build relationships and draw new people into fellowship with other believers. You’ll have the opportunity to encourage young professionals through Toastmaster classes, social events, hiking, and other activities. You can also use your professional expertise to offer training and professional development seminars to these bright, ambitious young people. This STM trip will give you the opportunity to see how God is at work in another cultural context and explore your own giftings as you serve.

Apply by March 15.

SOUTH AFRICA | Prison Aftercare & Restorative Justice Ministry | Dates TBD

ESTIMATED COST: $3000

Explore God’s heart for redemption and restoration in the context of South Africa’s prison system. Park Street Church will be joining Hope Prison Ministry (HPM) for a two-week project in the prisons of South Africa. On this short-term mission, your team will work alongside missionaries Andrew and Anne May and Alberto and Joanna Parada, who have been serving there for more than a decade. You will link up with HPM for this rare opportunity in a radically foreign context. The STM experience will be tailored to the interests and giftings of the team but may include:

  • interacting with incarcerated and newly released mothers and their children as HPM inaugurates its new residential aftercare ministry.
  • stepping inside the prison walls by participating in a Restorative Justice course, assisting local HPM staff as they lead this discipleship program, which aims to break the cycle of crime and incarceration.
  • reaching out to the families of prisoners and encouraging those who are ministering in this context on a regular basis.
  • using your skills and giftings such as counseling, construction, music, etc., to serve the community and demonstrate the love of God in practical ways.

No previous experience is required in prison ministry – all that is needed is a willing heart! Flexibility is key as prison ministry is, above all, unpredictable! Dates for the trip are flexible and will be determined based on the availability of the team.

LEWISTON, ME | Ministry to Refugee & Immigrant Community | July 27 - August 1

COST: $600

Park Street will be heading to Lewiston, Maine for our seventh year to work among a community of refugees and immigrants, predominately from the war-torn country of Somalia. Our team will be joining the ministry of the Root Cellar to reach out to this community in practical ways. Team members will help conduct an afternoon Vacation Bible School-type program, lead a soccer program, tutor English, prepare and serve meals, and help with various service projects.

The Root Cellar opened its doors in 2009 in Lewiston, ME.  Recognizing the need for a place where teens could come as an alternative to the streets, Christian volunteers provide a positive place where the area youth can drop in for food, games, and friendship. Located in the heart of the residential downtown neighborhoods, the Root Cellar is committed to bringing enriching services to neighboring youth and their families.

MIDDLE EAST | International Church Summer Day Camp | August 8-17

ESTIMATED COST: $2400

Park Street Church will have this exciting opportunity to serve one of our missionary families through supporting their local church. This short-term trip is a wonderful chance for you to serve a community church in the region of the world known as MENA (Middle East and North Africa). “One Wild Week” (OWW) is a one-week summer day camp, giving kids in the church and the local community the possibility to hear about the God who deeply loves them in a loving and fun environment.

OWW starts each day with lots of songs and dancing and hilarious skits and then a short and relevant Bible lesson, craft time and games. By mid-morning, you are leading the kids out on an adventure in this world-class city: amusement park, water park, climbing, zip lines and lots more! Campers will be divided into a pre-teen (11-13 yrs)  program, as well as a children’s camp (5-10 yrs).

Volunteers should be in fairly good shape to do a lot of walking and to handle the summer heat. Bring your whole family for this amazing opportunity to see God at work!

Apply by April 8.

REVERE BEACH, MA | Reach the Beach Evangelism Project | August 11-16

COST: $100

Park Street Church will join with other area churches again this summer for the annual “Reach the Beach” evangelism project. Team members use various methods to engage those they meet in spiritual conversations. In this diverse neighborhood of Revere Beach, people from many nationalities visit the literature table to receive Bibles and Jesus Film DVDs in their own language. Live music, activities for kids, facing painting, drama, and a prayer table are all activities that draw people into fruitful interactions, as they enjoy a day at the beach.

An event this large requires much help and cooperation! Volunteers are welcome to help during the planning stage, and many believers will be needed during the week—passing out gospel resources, helping at the bandstand, leading kids activities, talking and praying with the beach goers, etc. Even if you cannot participate every day, you can still take part in the festivities. Take this opportunity to shine the love of Christ in Boston’s backyard.

Apply by June 1.
