Announcements

This Sunday - 2024 Annual Meeting and Modified Sunday Service Schedule

SUN, FEB 25 | 12:45 PM | Park Street Church

Due to the Annual Meeting, there will be a single worship service beginning at 10:30 AM this SUN, FEB 25, followed by a light lunch and fellowship from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM. The Annual Meeting will begin at 12:45 PM in the Sanctuary.

Information about the meeting, materials to review, and registration for childcare can be found at parkstreet.org/annualmeeting. An “FAQ” section will be posted there as well (as mentioned in Mark’s letter from Thursday).

The Annual Meeting is an important time in the life of the church when we vote on candidates to fulfill roles on the Board of Elders, the Nominating Committee, and as church officers. Annual budgets for the church will also be approved. Active Park Street Church members will be allowed to vote, but whether or not you are a member we encourage you to attend!

Lenten Discipleship Initiative and World Relief 80th Anniversary

NOTE: This SUN, FEB 25, in preparation for the Annual Meeting, instead of walking through LDI material, groups are encouraged to simply pray for our church and the meeting. We encourage you to come at 9:15 AM and to pray in such a way that all present can say “Amen.” Groups will meet in the same Regional Fellowship locations (see the map here) with the exception of Metro North and West, which will move to the Fellowship Hall for this week only.

Lenten Discipleship Initiative
SUNDAYS continuing MAR 3 |
After the 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM services
For this year’s Lenten Discipleship Initiative, we are using a devotional prepared by World Relief entitled “He Was There.” World Relief was founded 80 years ago on a foundation laid by Park Street Church to address the critical need for food and clothing among people displaced by the war in Europe. As we celebrate World Relief’s 80th Anniversary throughout Lent, this devotional will help us examine Jesus’ care for those on the margins – the sick, the disenfranchised, the lost – and together we will see how this sacrificial love is for us, too. See here to view more information, register, and download digital copies of “He Was There.”

Give to World Relief with “fasting envelopes”
FEB 11 – MAR 30
Back when World Relief was still forming, Park Street Church contributed by encouraging congregants to fast one meal a week during Lent and to donate the money they would have used for that food using a “fasting envelope.” Throughout this coming Lent, we will once again be encouraging everyone to consider fasting and donating. Fasting envelopes will be available in the Welcome Center. Fasting money can also be donated online or in the Church Center App.

World Relief 80th Anniversary: Looking Back and Looking Forward

The following announcement appeared in the bulletin on January 8, 1942.  The Self Denial Campaign began in the fall and continued through Maundy Thursday.  $12 then is equivalent to $260 today.  As this shows, relief efforts were global in scope.

As you fast during Lent, please consider this week’s prayer request from World Relief: Pray for World Relief Cambodia as they expand into Mondulkiri, working alongside Khmer churches to engage and serve one of the most unreached people groups in the world. Only 0.4% of Khmer individuals identify as Christian.

Despite a rapidly growing economy, economic inequality continues to grow, increasing food insecurity, especially in rural areas. Inadequate access to food and a lack of diverse nutritional sources have resulted in stunted growth for a third of Cambodian children under five. With many parents being forced to migrate from rural to urban areas in search of economic opportunities, many children also experience extended periods of time without the care of their parents. As a result, child protection, family strengthening and economic empowerment are keys focuses for the Cambodia team.

Prayer Requests

Collective Prayers

“Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.” Psalm 5:2

Let us pray together…

  • For the world, that God’s goodness would be seen and recognized in his creation.
  • For the Church, that the Holy Spirit would build us up together in faith.
  • For Park Street Church, that we would see the course laid out for us, and walk in it alongside Jesus.
  • For the new members who have joined us, that they would experience the love of God though this community.
  • For the sick and the suffering, that God would bring healing in body and soul.
