Message from Mark Booker

Dear PSC,

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support during this time of recovery. It’s meant so much to my family and me. We remain grateful for the prayers, cards, meals, and other forms of care. I miss being with you!

My recovery continues to progress day by day, and I’m feeling better today than I have since the surgery – thanks be to God. My daily walks remain the focus of my physical activity, and this will remain that way until 8 weeks post-operation. No PT yet; just walking!

My return to ministry is still uncertain. I will likely return sometime in mid to late October. I’ll likely make an appearance here or there, and I’m staying in touch with some staff and elders from home.

I don’t plan return to the pulpit until mid-November, after the Mission Conference. I’m thankful for the good work that our other ministers have done in the pulpit in September. In October, after Adam preaches this Sunday, we’ll be blessed by the preaching of several ministers who are friends to PSC. I’m confident you’ll be well-nourished through their preaching!

The mercies of God have been the theme of my meditation and song in these past few weeks. His care for us is evident in so many ways, even (perhaps especially) through the challenges. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved” (Eph 2.4-5). And in response, I’m reminded of the closing words of Isaac Watts’ well-known hymn, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.”

I’m praying for you all, trusting God’s mercies will be sufficient in all our lives.

Grace and peace in Jesus,

Mark

Prayer Requests

Collective Prayers

“How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:11

Let us pray for….

  • Our tweens and teens, that they would have spiritual and mental health, growing Christian friendships, deepening identity formation in Jesus, and harmonious relationships with their parents.
  • The elderly with memory struggles: that they are filled with comfort, hope and joy; that God shows them each day how to serve him.
  • Our church to have increasingly clear vision about how to proclaim the gospel in Boston, and among our neighbors and co-workers. Pray that seekers hear and respond to the gospel message.
  • That the Holy Spirit pours out new spiritual gifts upon his people needed for the days ahead.
  • Pray for those with new cancer diagnoses, for strength for each day, and greater understanding of what this day is for.

Submit prayer requests to: parkstreet.org/requestprayer (or call 617-523-3383).
