Day 10

“If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands” was the song that echoed in the Harvard square station through the pipes of a street saxophonist on my way to work this morning. Everyone seemed so focused, and they were constantly checking the time for when their train would arrive. But for a moment, you could see smiles on people’s faces.

Psalm 121 gives us the blueprint of what a life that fears God looks like. The questions we all have in common as human beings living on planet Earth are:

What is the reason for all this?

Is there hope for the next generation? Why is there so much darkness in the world? What is my assignment on this earth? And why does wickedness seem to be on the rise?

This Bible verse takes us on a journey where David is having a conversation with the Lord, and we can see that it will work out in the end for those who follow God’s laws wholeheartedly.

We experience a perspective change when we know that it will work out in the end. Our daily work and walk as full-time parents, preachers, waitpersons, cleaners, cashiers, and delivery drivers is approached as sacred when we have this mindset.

Please don’t get discouraged even as we wait for the return of our King. Let’s not be weary in well doing and go about life exhausted. I pray that the Holy Spirit breathes a fresh fire into our souls.
