An Advent Call to All-Church Prayer and Fasting
Advent is historically a time of prayer, fasting, and repentance as we prepare for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we near the close of a challenging year for our church, the elders and ministers are working with the All-Church Prayer Team to call the church to a season of prayer and fasting. God has promised to hear our prayers when we cry out to him (2 Chronicles 6:21, Psalm 4:1, Jeremiah 29:12,13). As we seek the Lord with humility, let’s ask him to show each one of us the log in our own eye (Matthew 7:3) so that we may be able to confess our sins and be healed (James 5:16). Let’s come together as a church in repentance, asking God to bind up our wounds, revive and restore us (Hosea 6:1-3).
There will be different ways to participate in this season of Advent prayer and fasting:
1) Seven days of evening prayer, starting with All-Church Prayer on FRI, DEC 1 at 7:30 PM, followed by six days over Zoom, DEC 2–7, nightly from 7:30 to 8:00 PM. You can join here.
2) We want to be a praying church and blanket each day with prayer and fasting. We will have a sign-up for time slots from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM during the window of DEC 2–DEC 24. Click here to sign up.
Advent Around the World: Christian Formation Series
DEC 3, 10 & 17 | 9:45 AM & 5:30 PM | Granary Room
How does the global Church celebrate Advent? Join us for an Advent journey to Central Asia (SUN, DEC 3), East Asia (SUN, DEC 10) and the Middle East (SUN, DEC 17) to learn how Christians live out their faith in very different situations and how they engage with Advent. We will read Scripture together, hear from guest speakers and have opportunity for questions and interaction. Registration encouraged but not required.
*Please note there will be no 5:30 PM class on SUN, DEC 10 due to Lessons & Carols.

Ongoing Pastoral Care
The ministers of the church are available for individual appointments for prayer, to listen, and to answer questions you may have. Please email [email protected] or reach out to a minister directly if you would like to schedule a time to meet.
During the night of prayer on OCT 27, we mentioned that we recognize that not everyone is in the same place. Some have been impacted by recent events more than others and everyone has been impacted differently. As a part of our ongoing pastoral care, we would like to invite you to the follow-up gatherings:
FRI, DEC 1 – All-Church Prayer (with dedicated prayer for the church); see announcement below
MON, DEC 4 – Blue Christmas; see announcement below
FRI, DEC 15 – A conversation on “Walking Through Loss, Lament, and Turmoil” with Dr. Karen Mason; see announcement below

A service that acknowledges suffering and offers hope.
We all want the holidays to be a happy, celebratory time. But we know that cannot always be the case. Come worship with us in a service that is far from gloomy. We will enjoy jazz music and sing together; we will hear the parable “Ragman” instead of a sermon. We will also have a time of personal prayer if you desire it. It is a wonderful service to which you can invite seekers or non-seekers of all ages––they will be blessed! If you have any questions, please feel free to email Chris at [email protected].
A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols
SUN, DEC 10 | 7:00 PM
Our traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols retells the story of humanity’s redemption in Scripture and song, from the fall of man to the birth of the Messiah. Music is sung by the congregation along with the Sanctuary Choir and played by the Park Street Orchestra. Seating for this service will be limited to sanctuary capacity. We suggest arriving early to ensure finding a seat. The service will also be livestreamed at: parkstreet.org/live.
Childcare for children ages 0-4 years will be available (register for childcare HERE by DEC 9). We look forward to worshiping with you!

Prayer Requests
Collective Prayers
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Let us pray together…
- That those without family during the holidays would know the presence of God, and that Park Street would be a true family to all members.
- For Park Street’s unhoused neighbors as winter approaches, that the Lord would continue caring for them through the ministries of the church, and that he would provide stable housing for them.
- That Jesus, our great shepherd, would lead us in all life circumstances to become more like him.
Submit prayer requests to: parkstreet.org/requestprayer (or call 617-523-3383).
