Lenten Discipleship Initiative and World Relief 80th Anniversary

Lenten Discipleship Initiative
SUNDAYS until MAR 24 |
After the 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM services
LDI continues with World Relief’s devotional, entitled “He Was There,” which considers how believers can walk in the footsteps of Jesus. It’s not too late to join a group. Visit parkstreet.org/ldi to view more information, register, and download digital copies of “He Was There.”

Give to World Relief with “fasting envelopes”
FEB 11 – MAR 30
Back when World Relief was still forming, Park Street Church contributed by encouraging congregants to fast one meal a week during Lent and to donate the money they would have used for that food using a “fasting envelope.” Throughout this coming Lent, we will once again be encouraging everyone to consider fasting and donating. Fasting envelopes will be available in the Welcome Center. Fasting money can also be donated online or in the Church Center App.

Bring Your Signature Baked Delights to Our Easter Celebration

As we approach the joyous season of Easter, we’re excited to come together and celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. To make our festivities even more special, we’re inviting you to contribute by bringing your favorite baked goods, desserts, or finger foods to share.

Please plan to bring your contributions at one of the following timesbefore Easter Sunday, as this will make Sunday’s receptions smoother for our hospitality volunteers:

• SUN, MAR 24 (Palm Sunday), before any service, to the Welcome Center kitchen (for items that can withstand a longer stay in the fridge/freezer)
SAT, MAR 30, 10am-1pm, to the Granary Room kitchen

Though not preferred, we can accept contributions on SUN, MAR 31 (Easter Sunday) before each service, to the Fellowship Hall kitchen. Black serving trays will be available for pickup on SUN, MAR 24.

World Relief 80th Anniversary: Looking Back and Looking Forward

The following announcement appeared in the bulletin on September 24, 1944:

As you fast during Lent, please consider this week’s prayer request from World Relief:

Pray for World Relief Kenya as the country faces one of the most severe drought crises in modern African history, disproportionately impacting the historically marginalized region of Turkana.

The crisis is compounded by the fact that 80% of Kenya’s population of 47 million live in rural areas, with most dependent on subsistence agriculture. Since the start of the drought, child malnutrition in Turkana has risen from 14% to 30%, while 60-80% of livestock have died from thirst and starvation.

Wilson House Room Openings

Park Street’s residential college ministry house has an opening for a male resident starting April 4 and openings for both men and women starting June 1. Twenty-somethings with a heart for undergraduate ministry are encouraged to apply! Six volunteer hours per week are required. Email [email protected] for an application.

Prayer Requests

Collective Prayers

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26

 Let us pray together…

  • For peace throughout the world, that those acting in anger and retribution would experience the mercy of God and so be able to have mercy on others.
  • That God would continue to enable World Relief as they lead churches in the work of creating lasting change in communities around the world.
  • For the city of Boston, that Mayor Michelle Wu and other leaders would have wisdom in enacting fair policies for the good of all.
  • For Park Street Church, that Boston would know we are Christ’s disciples because of our love for one another.
