INTROIT
Words: from Psalm 122

let us go into the house of the Lord.
Alleluia, Alleluia.

* CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 68
David Rix, Moderator

Leader: O sing unto God, and sing praises unto his Name; magnify
him who rides upon the heavens.
The LORD is his Name; rejoice before him.
People: He is a father of the fatherless and defends the cause
of widows, God in his holy habitation.
Leader: He is the God who gives the solitary a home, and brings
the prisoners out of captivity,
but lets the rebellious dwell in a desert land.
People: He is our God, the God from whom salvation comes;
God is the LORD, by whom we escape death.
Leader: Your solemn procession is seen, O God,
how you go into the sanctuary, my God and King
People: Sing unto God, O you kingdoms of the earth;
O sing praises unto the Lord.

* HYMN No. 115 All Creatures of Our God and King

* INVOCATION, CONFESSION, & LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our coming day’s bread;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into trial, but deliver us from the Evil One.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

* PEACE

There Is a Balm in Gilead
Words: Traditional Spiritual
Music: Howard Helvey (b. 1968)
Marana Avant, mezzo soprano

There is a balm in Gilead
to make the wounded whole,
there is a balm in Gilead
to heal the sin-sick soul.

Sometimes I feel discouraged
and think my work’s in vain,
but then the Holy Spirit
revives my soul again. Refrain.

If you cannot preach like Peter,
if you cannot pray like Paul,
you can tell the love of Jesus
and say, “He died for all.” Refrain.
