Lord, for Thy Tender Mercy’s Sake
Words: From J. Bull Christian Prayers and Holy Meditations (1568)
Music: Farrant (16th c.)
Lord, for thy tender mercy’s sake, lay not our sins to our charge,
but forgive that is past, and give us grace to amend our sinful lives:
to decline from sin and incline to virtue,
that we may walk in a perfect heart before thee now and evermore.
Amen
* CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 34
John Liu, Elder
Leader: O praise the Lord with me,
and let us magnify his Name together.
People: I sought the Lord, and he heard me;
he delivered me out of all my fears.
Leader: The angel of the Lord camps round about those who fear him,
and delivers them in time of need.
People: O taste and see how gracious the Lord is;
blessed is the man who trusts in him.
Leader: O fear the Lord, you that are his saints;
for those who fear him lack nothing.
* INVOCATION, CONFESSION, & LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our coming day’s bread;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into trial, but deliver us from the Evil One.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

ANTHEM
O For a Closer Walk
Words: W. Cowper (1731–1800)
Music: Scottish Psalter, 1635; arr. C.V. Stanford (1852–1924)
O for a closer walk with God,
A calm and heav’nly frame,
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lamb.
Return, O Holy Dove,
Return, sweet messenger of rest;
I hate the sins that made thee mourn,
And drove thee from my breast.
So shall my walk be close with God,
Calm and serene my frame;
So purer light shall mark
the road that leads me to the Lamb.
