From their Poverty Making Others Rich

Voice of the Gospel Tabernacle (VofGT) is a church in Mattapan. They have a congregation of about 40 members consisting primarily of Haitian families many of whom are experiencing poverty. VofGT has a Food Pantry that feeds hundreds of families weekly.  The Pastor of this congregation, Nicolas Homicil spoke with Park Street Church’s Project Managers who help to support Pastor Nicolas’ food pantry and discovered that Central Assembly of God Church (CAGC) needed a Food Pantry to respond to the critical issues of Food Security in East Boston primarily related to the Latin American population there.

The City of Boston had been seeking new sites for service provision of food in East Boston. Last week, out of self-sacrificing love, Pastor Nicolas met David Searles, Pastor of CAGC and offered to provide food to his brothers and sisters in Christ across the city.  This little congregation with a BIG heart has now started a daughter work. From their poverty, they are making others rich. I am certain Paul’s beautiful words about the churches of Macedonia apply here: “for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part” We are so thankful to be given a front-row seat to observe the crazy love of God extended between these congregations. PSC Project Managers from each of these sites were blessed to participate in this new partnership.
