Remembering Dr. Roberto Miranda, Congregation Lion of Judah

Let us pray for and extend our compassion to our sisters and brothers at Congregation Lion of Judah, whose beloved pastor of 40 years, Dr. Roberto S. Miranda, passed away suddenly into the Lord’s presence on May 21, 2022. While we grieve this tremendous loss to the Boston Christian community, we give thanks for the power and love of God that touched many through this beloved servant of Jesus.

On FRI, JUN 3 at 7:00 PM, the City-Wide Prayer Gathering, which was already scheduled to take place at Lion of Judah, will be a special time for the Church of Boston to gather together to show support for Lion of Judah, and to give thanks for the life of this dear brother. Directions to Congregation Lion of Judah can be found here

Last year, Roberto had a conversation with Mark Booker on the Park Street Dialogues podcast. We’re re-releasing that episode now for those who might be interested in hearing Roberto’s story. You can find the podcast in your podcasting app or by clicking the button below.

HOME Ministry – Invitation to Serve our Local Unhoused and Housed Guests

We invite you to join us in serving good food and creating a hospitable atmosphere of safety, calm and conversation in the name and spirit of Jesus, every THU evening (open to guests 5:45-7:15 PM) and/or SAT morning (open to guests 8:30–11:30 AM) in the Fellowship Hall. Please let us know your interest by completing the form below.

We are looking to build “resilient sustainability” in the HOME community of people serving. This means 1) a core group large enough to own and share responsibilities, for the sake of safety, logistics, pastoral care of other volunteers and guests, and, 2) a larger occasional-volunteer group that can be relied upon, on aggregate, to provide capacity. This balances the need for continuity of relationship with our guests with the practical need for enough people serving sustainably over the long–term.

Questions? Contact Simon & Maria (for Saturdays), or Earle & Anna (for Thursdays) at [email protected]

Volunteer with HOME

Join a Park Street Church Welcome Team

We need your help welcoming! This opportunity is for everyone, but if you’re new to the church, this a great first step for jumping into our community. Joining a Welcome Team or Coffee Hour Team is a wonderful way to connect with others while serving. You’ll join a consistent small group to welcome others into the church at one or two services a month.

Financial Update

We are pleased to announce that the Emergency Relief–Afghan Fund and the Deacon’s Fund have healthy balances, so feel free to focus on supporting the Ministry & Operations budget and Missions budget as you consider giving in order to keep on pace with budgeted giving.

World Relief

To continue supporting World Relief’s response to the refugee crisis in Ukraine, designate your online gift to “World Relief Sunday – Ukraine” or by writing “Ukraine” on your giving envelope or check memo. Listen to a personal testimony about World Relief from Walter Kim, a former Park Street minister and current president of the National Association of Evangelicals, and visit the link below if you would like to give online.

Alpha Marriage Course | Sundays, Jun 5–Jul 24

Sundays, JUN 5–JUL 24, 8:15–9:30 PM via Zoom

Led by Chris and Doug May

Beginning on SUN, JUN 5 and ending SUN, JUL 24, we will be presenting the Alpha Marriage Course. This biblical, practical, and very creatively presented program includes a mixture of teaching, interviews from couples of all ethnicities who have participated in the past, and practical exercises. Exercises are done only with your spouse, so introverts need not worry!

The class will be entirely on Zoom, but we hope to have a couple of outdoor gatherings if possible. If you need to miss a session or two it will be possible to redo it later in the week. There is some homework to do during the week, but it is not onerous. We will plan meet on Sunday evenings from 8:15–9:30 PM to give parents with younger children time to get them in bed. The cost is $10 for the books.
