On a different topic, the Board of Elders and I want you to be aware of the Equality Act. This legislation was passed by the House in late February, and it is currently being debated in the Senate. We encourage everyone to be informed about this legislation (here is a short statement by the National Association of Evangelicals) and to be in prayer about this matter. The Equality Act raises substantial concerns around religious liberty, and it provokes conversations about religious freedom, about the church and politics, about sexuality and gender, and about how we love our neighbors. I encourage us to approach all these matters thoughtfully, as humble followers of Jesus who love and engage with courage, conviction, and compassion.
